Paper Crafting 101, Tutorial Tuesday: February 18, 2009

by Susanna on February 17, 2009

Sorry, I’m late today — I discovered a new, very cool web site and I spent the day working up an explanation of WHY it’s so cool for you guys.

Here’s the site: CSS Drive

Basically, you upload your picture or enter a URL, and the web site will pull the color scheme (complete with HEX codes) from your pictures.  Think about this…. almost all of that patterned paper that we love is online at the manufacturer’s site…. I pulled my scrapbook picture over from Flickr!  I’m completely color challenged — I never know what to put together, and this did it all for me!  It’s also FREE!!!!

Here’s the layout I made using the Medium Color Palette.

Luckily, the Cosmo Cricket paper pack was all of these same colors — so a lot of the coordination was done for me, once I knew where to start.

I drew this little rocket embellishment in Photoshop!  I’m NOT an artist and I was really happy without my little doodle turned out.  I printed it and then colored it with Copics.  (I just got them… I knew I’d eventually cave….)  Yes, you can color printed stuff with your Copics — just heat set the line art first.

OK, enough of my personal sharing – off to the lists —

Best of the Blogosphere Crafting lists. Remember these lovely little boxes don’t show up in Google Reader, so if you can’t see them, click on over to my site and they will magically appear. (When you see the boxes, there is a small "read more" in the bottom, right hand corner… click it and you can see the list with pictures as a web page!)
